Artist’s StatementI use indigenous and chosen materials to create subtle minimal expressions involving space. My work is about place, experience, and the body. The structure of experience interconnects people and places into a community of memory. The body and place begin to resemble each other as their fictional memories become intertwined. The body exposes its memories through the membrane of skin, and the place mimics the experience of its residents, wanting to express its own memories. My art explores connections, from the viral to the social. The spiritual expressions in my art reflect my investigation into human experience and as a reflection of the experience of art. Spirituality, like art, copes with what is difficult, curious, wonderful and unknown. My work is not about creating; but about noticing, focusing and distilling relationships.
