Upcoming events, July/August

Good afternoon, you fair and kind beings.

Firstly, I have a newly built piece debut’ing at Aldo Castillo Gallery as part of the Deadline Projects show “High Art.” The theme of the show is a sly reference to mobiles, in the tradition of Calder and others. My contribution will be a miniaturized, compact version of an earlier work called “Octophonopod.” It’s an aleatoric light-and-sound machine, possessing eight small globes which emit harmonic tones in a randomized fashion designed to please and soothe the senses.

New works by local artists Sarah Perez, Holly Sabin, and the rest of the Deadline cast o’ characters will suspend your disbelief.

Date: Friday, July 17, 5:30 to 9pm.

Location: Aldo Castillo Gallery, 675 N. Franklin St., Chicago

Secondly, don’t miss out on the 2nd annual Experimental Garage Sale at Chicago’s Experimental Sound Studio. Experimental.

I’ll be there to talk shop and sell raw materials and some new finished instruments, effects and amplifiers. This event last year was a barrel of fun for everyone who loves sound, electronics, and craziness.  For everyone else, perhaps not so much.

Thirdly, work continues on new ideas and new shows, with some big events coming up this fall.  I don’t want to spoil anything, so just forget about it and be surprised later.  Be excited.
