New device for sale: circuit-bent mini beatbox

posted in: Circuit bending by Michael Una on March 15, 2009

A “mini beatbox,” which selectably plays a handful of funky beats, has been circuit-bent to control tempo and pitch. The resulting sounds are glitchy, IDM-like drones and rhythms.

Fans of Aphex Twin, Squarepusher and the like will enjoy the sounds this little device makes. Any electronic musician looking for unique sample sources need look no further.

You can purchase one here: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=22329206

Multiples of this item are available- I found a treasure trove of these little guys.

  1. Hey Mike!

Fellow Chicagoan here. Got a favor to ask- I’m liking your beep-it design, but I can’t get it as small as yours. I want to make a couple for my nephews, and have all the parts, but i’m not good enough to make it work on a protoboard. Can you please send me the .BRD & drill files so i can have them made, or even better, can I buy a few blank PCB’s off you?I just can’t afford to buy your etsy model.. got laid off, you know the story. This would just be an awesome gift for the boys!

BTW, I’m up on the northside, right off the granviille stop. I mostly do robotics work & pretty LED stuff :)

    Thanks!!

    Chris

  2. Nice one! I love the 4017 :)

  3. Oh man, I left that comment on the wrong post. Sorry! I’ve got a good excuse because I just woke up :P This is a very nice little toy you’ve got going too!
