Last Monday, February 25th I gave a talk and a workshop on circuit bending and hand building.

I worked out a short powerpoint presentation giving an overview of electronic theory and why circuit bending works, then conducted a hands-on workshop where the students got to crack open some toys and experiment with them.

Later on, some of the students succeeded in building an optical theremin from scratch. Overall, I was very impressed with the students dedication to learning the skills at hand, and their perseverance in building the circuits. They were much more successful than I was during my first attempt at circuit building. Having a breadboard helps…
